Grit and Deliberate Practice

Angela Duckworth is the author of Grit. She was recently interviewed at Google.

At the 6:40 mark, Angela Duckworth talks about “deliberate practice” and her conversation with Anders Ericsson.

  1. Specific, small goal (usually a weakness)
  2. 100% focus
  3. Feedback
  4. Refinement and reflection

She shares useful stories about leadership and parenting in the talk. A good leader, she says, has the combination of two skills:

  1. Demanding and Challenging (“expect more of you”)
  2. Genuinely caring and provide support

Exactly, like good parents.
