There are times when your deepest beliefs are your best guides. Those are tough times. Those are also the best times.
This is one time where I feel my own thoughts need to be put down for myself. Though I am writing this just for myself, I hope these words can be of some meaning for others, too.
1. Keep the ‘trivial’ trivial. There are other things that are more serious.
If the age of the universe is one year, a human life is nothing but the last second(s) of December 31st. And it is all but spent on one small speck of dust in the cosmos. On the cosmic scale, most of everyday issues are trivial, if not meaningless. Human emotions have meaning, but it is vital to examine them under the right perspective.
2. Identification beyond the body.
If it all started with a Big Bang, then every part of the universe, including empty space, has evolved from one and the same thing. There is cosmic unity within every atom of the cosmos, and also between matter and empty space. The body is part of the consciousness of the entire universe. In fact, it is the consciousness of the entire universe. Identification with a confined identity, a confined body, is just a mirage. It is an illusion built through limited experiences in a limited time on a limited space.
The body will die. Cells and atoms will move to other places. Another life may be born. Some cells will go in to it. Cells from different beings come together to form new lives. Everyone is One.
3. Smile. Slow. Sehaj.
Life, in all this perspective, is a miracle. It is the window through which the universe is a witness to itself. Each life shows it a different picture, a different story. But all these are stories of the same cosmos. That, we are.
Each moment, each experience, each feeling, each breath, is beautiful. Gratitude. Gratitude. Gratitude.
Aum.
P.S. — Happy Diwali!
